People are the key! Are you or your people creating the results you need to satisfy your shareholders and employees? After working in the personal growth and development industry for 21 years, I see that my contribution to an organization is to pull out the very best that already exists in people. My mission is to consistently provide the most relevant information to develop highly productive, results-focused people and challenge everyone in an organization to be accountable for their work performance.
In looking at the different economic powers in the world and their workforce, we find that there are some people who show a willingness to work long hours and extra days each week for relatively very little pay. Some are begging for more work and their work performance is just outstanding. From that ethic, they understand the personal benefit of hard work and are primarily service oriented. In other words, they mostly care about the well being of the people around them. The more I travel and work with people the more that I see the effects of the technology and information revolution. In developing countries, many people are working less only to receive more. In fact employees are demanding more from their employer than ever before without actually giving more. People bicker and argue about petty things, waste valuable time and resources and allow opportunity for profits slip by without a second thought. Studies show that 68% of our customers defect from an attitude of indifference by an employee than any other source of irritation. And the defectors go streight to the competition. What I bring to the table are the reasons for this indifference and a solution for your people to willingly get back on track. There are consequences to this thinking and consequences to this behavior. It is permeating your culture. It is making it very difficult for your company to compete in the global economy because of the high cost of manufacturing and payroll. It's outrageous. This thinking and behavior makes it very difficult for your organizations to generate revenue and grow profits. What we need are constant reminders that we are not only a global economy, we are a global society. We are in fact, in this together. We can no longer operate as a “me” oriented world and that caring for each other is the final frontier. In terms of revenue and profit, our ability to create high performance global environments within our organizations will determine our success and our ability to create results more than any other skill we can give to our people. Your employees also have another challenge that faces them every day. That challenge is the corporate structure, policies, rules, outdated equipment, and the bad profits that deflate their willingness to serve your customer with confidence. Research shows that many times a customer will defect through no fault of the customer service they receive. It's because the customer is fed up with paying all the nuisance fees that companies charge that are mandated from headquarters and headquarters can't give them up because they make up a huge chunk of annual profits. You can send as many people to training as you want, but if upper management is not committed to treating customer right, it's all a colossal waste of time and money. My job is to work with both ends to close the gap. In your organization, consider these questions:
